| dc.description.abstract | CrpP, an enzyme able to phosphorylate ciprofloxacin, was described in 2018 as encoded within the plasmid pUM505 of Pseudomonas aeruginosa; on cloning crpP in a J53 background, the MIC of ciprofloxacin rose from 0.008 to 0.06 mg/L.1 Thereafter, crpP-like genes have been reported in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae.2 At present, the prevalence of CrpP and its geographical dissemination, presence within mobile genetic elements and potential ancestral origins remain to be determined.
